Welcome to GreatPirate.com, the home of Great Pirate Economics.
Great Pirate was a term first coined by 20th century designer, author, and futurist Buckminster Fuller.  Fuller used the term to describe seafaring entrepreneurs and traders who, over the ages, built what we know today as the global economy.  Great Pirate Economics is the name of a course and upcoming book by Chad Tew that traces the rise of the Great Pirates and the role they still play in the world economy of the 21st century.

“A Great Pirate is a global voyager, a man or woman of action and entrepreneurial spirit who directs available resources to achieve their most profitable and efficient product.  They are not to be confused with small time pirate thieves who leech off the productivity of others.  Rather, the Great Pirates are the source of productivity.  They have operated in relative obscurity, so little is known of them and most of their accomplishments have been credited to those who front for them.  They have been with us since before the Phoenician traders first plied the Mediterranean and remain among us to this day.”
